Boost My Bio #PitchWars 2019
I am super excited to participate in #PitchWars this year for the first time. Honestly, I am discovering a whole new world in the writing community that I didn’t know existed. It’s like I stepped through the wardrobe and now I never want to leave Narnia.

A little bit about me:
I have always wanted to be a story-teller. In middle school, I scribbled scenes and bits of dialogue into journals. In high-school, it was drama class which provided a thrill. College was a time to study screenwriting and explore creative writing. It wasn’t until last year though, that I decided to take writing more seriously. More on that later…
By day, I work as a customer success manager for a GPS company. It’s a great job with even better people. I’m really lucky.
On the weekends, I am am a #weekendwarrior and spend most of my time camping or hiking the beautiful Colorado Rockies. I mean how can I not with all of this in my backyard?

I am married with two furry children. They are truly spoiled and go everywhere with us. Including climbing mountains.
Daydreaming is most favorite hobby but I also love to read, watch movies, listen to music and travel. My favorite place so far is Iceland. It’s so wild and untamed, truly feels like another planet.
Now on to the good stuff, the novel:
Chronicles of Somnium: Dreams of Fire is the first book in a young adult fantasy series following the adventures of seventeen-year-old Harper as she travels to the dream world of Somnium.
The Pitch:
Seventeen-year-old Harper Morgan is starting her senior year of high school, which should be the best year of her life. So why can’t she move out of her mother’s driveway? When she survives a car accident that kills her father, her reality shatters, and she is led on a strange journey into the dream world of Somnium.
Mythical creatures, epic battles and a whirlwind romance with the heir to the throne make Somnium appear to the be the perfect fairy-tale escape. However, as with most fantasies, everything is not as it seems and soon fantasy will blend with reality. Harper learns she cannot run from her problems and she must navigate her broken relationships with her mother and high school friends, while dodging a mysterious doctor who doesn’t have her best interest at heart and may not be from this world.
Harper will need to stand up for herself and find the courage everyone keeps telling her she has. Accepting the truth about what is happening to her will change her life forever, forcing her down a fantastical and terrifying path.

The birth of my first novel:
Dreams of Fire is my first manuscript. I have written screenplays before but never a novel. The thought of writing 300 + pages had me frozen on the first page for many years. That was until I joined a writing group with the most wonderfully supportive ladies. The best writing friends who I’m honored to call my real friends now. They managed to convince me to try #NaNoWriMo for the first time last year in Nov 2018. I thought, “hey, I will try it and maybe I’ll get half a novel completed.” I completed 50,000+ words in 24 days. I was obsessed. I wrote the second novel in the Chronicles of Somnium series during April’s #CampNano and have been working, and learning as a go, for the past year. It’s been one hell of a journey. I feel like a changed person and I’m never going back.
